For Parents
We know that one of the most important factors in a child's success is the influence of their parents. As a parent, it is absolutely vital to encourage the love of reading and make it a habit when your child is young.
Here are some suggestions from the British Columbia Teacher's Federation to get your child "Off to a Good Start in Literacy":
- Read early; read often.
- Play "I spy" or other word games.
- Chant rhyming words with your child.
- Visit your public library regularly.
- Let your child choose books.
For more ideas, visit the British Columbia Teacher's Federation Website.
